TruControl™ Gold Electric Trailer Brake Controller Features
TruControl ™ is the first advanced electric brake controller that uses Current Compensating Technology, also know as Enhanced Proportional Braking. TruControl™ reads the actual electrical current required by your trailer brakes. As heat builds in your trailer brakes, the TruControl™ compensates by increasing the power to maintain constant trailer braking force. What is Current Compensating Technology and Enhanced Proportional Braking?
As trailer brakes heat up during use, their power requirements increase significantly. It’s known as brake fade. That means you lose stopping power.
With Current Compensating Technology, the output to the brakes is adjusted to counter the effects of brake fade. As the brakes heat up, TruControl™ increases the power output. You always have the stopping power when you need it.
Current Compensation, by itself, makes TruControl™ the safest brake controller on the market. But we weren’t satisfied yet.
Our research indicated that hydraulic disc brakes in your tow-vehicle are more efficient at high speeds while the electric drum brakes in a trailer are more efficient at low speeds.
That’s why standard proportional braking doesn’t work. Standard proportional braking sends power to the trailer brakes directly proportional to the amount of braking applied to the tow-vehicle brakes. That’s like putting a distance runner on the starting line with a sprinter and expecting them to finish at the same time, no matter the distance. It just doesn’t work.
